The Dragon Tale
PART ONE 1
The black hole
The Companions
“Don’t worry, we’re gonna make it,” Jay said. It was raining outside on the forest. The sky was viciously black; nothing could be seen except the three companions alone in the dark.
“I don’t want to do this anymore, what’s the point?” said David wearily.
“What time is it already? Are we gonna make it by the end of the month?” asked Elana. “And can someone remind me why I’m doing this?” Nothing was said as they all knew too well what the reason was, so they kept on walking in silence.
Even though none of them wanted to mention about the thing that had brought them all into this mess. But if we continue with this story, I suggest you’ll need to know.
* * *
“What do we have for homework today? asked Jay. Jay was a student who enrolled in AIS. He was every teacher’s favorite and the girl most wanted. But unfortunately, he didn’t like any of them.
“Umhh…We have a history project on Alexander the Great, two pages on genetics, page 145 and 146 in math book and a presentation about cell cycle that is due tomorrow,” answered Elana. Elana was a girl who just moved in two months ago. She usually got teased by the boys from upper grade, and as usual Jay always stood up for her.
“Woh!! That sounds a lot; I think I forgot to pray yesterday. Amen,” said David. David has been Jay’s best friend since grade two and they were very tight. “So can I stop by at your house later?”
“Yeah, me too.”
Jay was walking home, long at the blue sky above him. He was whistling and then suddenly he saw a meteor flew passed the air above him and was heading toward his garden. He ran his best to chase after it. When he reached it, he saw a big giant meteorite was right there in front of his eyes, behind his backyard. When he came closer to the giant ball, he was hit by a magnetic field and bumped into the wall. He got a bruise on his arm and was trying to get up. “Cool!! ‘It’s good that mom and dad are on business. Pheww.’”
Bullies
Elana was reading a book in the school’s yard, she had just moved in for three days, everything was new to her and she hadn’t had any friends yet. There were three boys who were walking over and they took her book.
“What do you want?” Elana asked.
“Just a little greeting to the school’s new member,” the biggest guy said, smiling awkwardly.
“Give me back my book,” she said boldly, thought to herself that it sounded kind of childish.
“Why would we?”
“Because it’s mine!”
“Then come and take it,” the big guy raised the book up high so she couldn’t reach it. Elana put up her arm and was going to punch him, but he took her arm with his strong, powerful hand and held it tightly.
“You’re hurting me,” Elana said, a tear nearly fell out off her eye.
“So?? Why should I care?”
“Let go off my hand,” she demanded. Another boy was walking by then jumped in.
“What do you guys think you’re doing to her?!” he asked.
“What do you think we’re doing?” the leader replied. The guy took his arm and twisted it, forced him to kneel down in front of Elana.
“Now say that you’re sorry to her.”
“Never!!!” the big guy yelled back. He twisted the guy’s arm even more, and this time it made a little crack sound.
“How about now?” He asked, a smile was on his face.
“I’m……sor…..sorry.” The words barely came out of his mouth. The guy let go off his arm.
“What are you waiting for? Go!” he said. The boys ran as fast as they could, no one dared to look back. “Hi, my name’s Jay.” “I’m Elana, I just moved to AIS a few days ago. Nice to meet you,” she smiled at him. ‘I’ve just been saved by a boy from my class that I don’t even know.’
“Well, stay away from those bullies next time. I’ll see you around,” he said.
“Bye,”
He was walking away then she remembered, she shouted, “Thanks.”
It has disappeared??
“I saw a meteorite today, just two hours ago,” said Jay.
“What’s he saying?” asked David.
“I have no idea,” replied Elana.
“Wow, we have just got half of it done and he’s delirious already? asked David with amazement and fascinating. But then the room was absolutely silent. The silence then became quite scary.
But suddenly Jay broke the beautiful moment by saying, “No I’m serious, it’s not a joke guys,” said Jay seriously.
“If it is, it’s not even funny with that tone.” replied Elana.
“Here,” he handed his arm out for them to see the purple bruise that now had turned into a gross dark-color.
“So?? It proves nothing,” said David.
“Come with me, I’ll show you something.” The two kids followed him slowly, each looked curious. “There, you see?” “See what? So far I’ve seen nothing,” said David blankly.
Then to Jay’s surprise, there was nothing, even the hole was gone. “What??? It was…It was there.”
“Are you having illusions?” asked David.
“Are you seeing hallucinations?” asked Elana.
There seemed to be a kind of confusion going on. Jay’s mouth was still wide-opened.
“It has come to my conclusion that you’re having too much emotions after a pile of homework …..” said David, he was looking for a –tion or –sion but couldn’t find any.
“Ok, come to my house tomorrow and I’ll show you guys,” said Jay.
They came back into the house and finished up their homework, later on Elana and David left.
Black Hole
The next day, it was late at night that they came to Jay’s house again for the meteorite.
“Have you got it? asked Elana.
“What??” Jay asked, turning to Elana.
“Well…..the meteorite that you’re talking about.”
“I don’t know,” Jay answered. “Let’s go and check it.”
They followed him one more time to the back of his garden. One more time, everything was as peaceful as it’s sopposed to be.
“So……that’s it,” said David.
Suddenly, they felt a stirring below their feet. The ground was shaking now; it formed a little black hole. The hole was getting bigger until it was big enough to suck all the kids in.
“Wha……ttt….isss….ggo…..oooing on…..heeeerre?” David asked shakily.
“I….donnn….t….kk….now….” said Jay.
Then all three of them got sucked inside the hole and it disappeared.
PART 2
The Dragon
The Dragon of Del
They were brought back to the 1700s, the time of wars and killing.
* * *
The kids were still dizzy after the black hole. They got up and looked around, nothing seemed familiar.
“Where are we?” asked Jay.
“I don’t know, but we better ask those people,” Elana said. They approached them and Elana asked,” Excuse me, what time is this?”
“Pardon?” one of them answered.
“What year is this?”
“1773,” another guy answered. “What are you people doing out here dressing like that?” “Uh, we’re not fr-….” he got punched in the arm by Elana. “Ouch, what was that for?!” “Excuse us,” said Elana, half smiling to them.
They kept on walking for awhile, untile they heard the roaring sound from far away.
“What was that?” David asked a lady.
“The dragon’s roar, don’t you know?” the lady’s eyes were surprise.
Jay asked, “Dragon?? What dragon??”
“The Del dragon, it’s been here for months. Are you kids from another place?”
“Why is the dragon here?” asked Elana.
“I’m not sure. A few months ago, people said they saw a meteorite crashed outside the town, the sound woke the whole city. Then a couple days later, they found a man’s corpse near the forest of Gryffin. Some said they even saw a dragon, but the fact hasn’t been proved yet.”
“Where’s the forest mam?” Elana asked.
“Northwest from here, if you’re going to fid the dragon, I suggest you shouldn’t. It’s very dangerous. But good luck to you whatever you’ll do.”
“Thanks.”
They walked for thirty minutes or so in silent. ‘Meteorite….Is it the same kind that was behind my garden a few days ago? Is this supposed to be destiny? Should we find that dragon?’ Those questions couldn’t leave Jay’s head. He thought and thought.
“We’re going to go to the forest,” said Jay.
“What?? Are you crazy, we don’t even know why we’re here and you have already decided that we’ll leave our lives just because of some stupid rumors?!” David said.
“We have to. Remember the meteorite I said to you?? It may have a connection with this thing. If we kill the dragon, we can return home.”
“He sounds right David, besides there’s nothing else we can do in this place.”
David said nothing as they walked on.
First Danger
The three of them kept walking without any knowing what they’re heading to. They couldn’t find any food or water. They became more and more tired.
“I’m exhausted, I can walk no more,” said David.
“Keep on trying,” replied Jay.
By night, they were all laying, no one could stand up on their feet.
“What’s that sound?? I think I’m hearing something.” said Elana.
“Me too. I think it’s near here,” said Jay.
“Maybe…..maybe it’s water.”
They all ran and soon, they found a stream beside the little rocks.
“Finally!!!” Jay said, taking a handful of water.
“Jesus!!!” David screamed.
Each of them drank until they lay on their backs and couldn’t drink anymore. Later, they all slept.
* * *
Dawn came and Jay was the first one to wake, barely opened his eyes.
“Ohhhhhh…..What a night, I dreamed we were sucked in the black hole and were brought into an ancient town and we were heading to a forest called Gryffin to find a dragon……silly me,” he chuckled a little bit then looked around. “Oh, then it wasn’t a dream after all.”
He woke them up and they continued there journey with empty stomachs. That night, they made a small fire with of some stones and woods they found nearby.
“What’s that sound?” asked Elana.
“What sound? I’m not hearing anything,” replied David.
“Maybe I just imagined it, sweet dream.”
They laid side by side, each shriveled up because it was so cold on the ground. “Ooooooooo, Ooooooo.” A sound from somewhere came and woke all three of them.
“That sound, I wasn’t imagining, I heard it.” The sound was made again, this time it was even louder and nearer. Suddenly, a shadow jumped out from the rock that was nearest to them. It was a big white wolf.
“Ahhhhhhhh……..” Elana screamed.
“Run, run!!!” Jay shouted to them.
All of them started running like they had never run before.
“I’m scared, don’t leave me Jay,” said Elana, tearing down.
“No I won’t,” he took her hand and they ran faster.
“Climb up on that tree,” shouted David.
Jay held Elana’s hand as they both started climbing. David was the first one who was there. When he was reaching to the next branch, the wolf was scratching up from the ground.
“We’re almost there, can you reach it?” Jay said, Elana nodded.
She was there first and reached down her hand for Jay’s, the wolf almost got him. He caught Elana’s hand and tried to raise himself up to the branch. Finally, he was success. The wolf howled a little more and then ran away.
“Pheww…..That was close, it almost got me. Thanks.”
“No, thank you.”
And they slept, not realizing that they had already entered the forest and what danger was still ahead of them.
A Sign
“I wanna say thanks again about yesterday,” said Elana.
Jay was blushing, “don’t mention it.”
Sometime Jay stole a glimpse of Elana, and when she looked back, he looked away. Elana knew that he looked at her, but she didn’t say anything.
“Hey Elena,” said Jay.
“Yeh??”
“Um….I…..never mind.”
David coughed, “Say…y…it.”
“What?” asked Elana.
“Uh….no…nothing….the sand just gave me a little cough,” smiling to Elana.
Jay pulled David out.
“What was that for?”
“What was what?”
“The whole coughing thing and….Say it.”
“Why didn’t you say it to her?”
“Say what?”
“That you like her.”
“Why?? I don’t…..Is it that obvious?
David nodded, “Do it man. You’re a man aren’t ya??”
Jay approached Elana. “What I was saying was…..”
They stopped. In front of them was a big cave, it looked old and devastated. Next to it was a sign. There were lots of words on it. Jay read it out loud.
“Once there was a dragon
A fierce and violent creature that was hungry for blood.
Fortunately the heroes came
With weapons and shield they cut it into mud.”
“Well, at least it rhymes…” Jay said, sounded hesitated.
They began to walk inside; unaware of what is behind it. There was a booming sound and a troll appeared from nowhere. He was enormous with one eye and pale green spots on his yellow skin. He has a big horn on his forehead and sharp teeth. He was holding a brown wooden club on his hand looking hungrily. He ran at them and swung his club at them. He missed and it hit the rock behind Jay instead.
“What the heck did we bring ourselves into?” asked David.
“Whatever it is, it’s really not so good,” said Jay running and catching on his breath.
Then Jay saw the troll had caught Elana and she was lying beside his feet. As the club was a few inches away from Elana’s chest, Jay threw a rock at the troll and it hit him on the face. The troll turned around and looked at Jay. He was heading for Jay now.
“Jesus!!! What have I done my previous life?! Jay screamed.
The troll kicked into his stomach and he flew across David. He lied there, gasping for breath. The troll came toward Jay and was preparing to kill him. Then David ran at Jay and covered Jay with himself. The club was in midair and it stopped.
“Enough!!!” A man from nowhere shouted. He was pointing a stick-like thing at the troll. “I am Wizard Lodin and I’m responsible for that troll.”
“Why did you want to kill us and saved us again?” asked David.
“Because you’ve proved to me that you’re good enough.”
“Good enough for what?”
“To kill the dragon.”
“So you knew that we’re gonna be here?”
“Yes, it was like that for thousand of years. The dragon, the meteorite, and you three, it is destiny.”
“But we didn’t even kill the troll.”
“But you’ve proved to me that you’re brave, courageous and confident.”
“So how can we go home?”
“By killing the dragon and bring peace back to Frell.”
“How are we going to do that?”
“I’ll tell you later, but first come to my place and I’ll heal Jay and Elana.”
The Gifts
“Where am I?” Jay asked.
“Oh, so you’ve finally woke,” said Lodin.
“How long have I been here?”
“Two days.”
“Where’s Elana? Where is she?”
“Don’t worry, she’s resting in the next room, David’s taking care of her.”
“Why am I here?” “I’ll explain to you later.”
After Elana woke up, they had dinner and Lodin told them everything.
“So you know everything about us?” asked Jay.
“Yes.”
“What’s my middle name,” said Jay.
“Dori,” said Lodin, chuckling.
Jay felt a bit awkward but he nodded.
“What did I get when I was three,” said Elana
“Enuresis.”
The boys giggled.
“You believe me now?” asked Lodin.
Elana and Jay nodded.
“Good. I have important things to give you, without these you will hardly kill the dragon.”
They looked curious but waited for Lodin while he was taking something out from his bag.
“Elana, this is for you, the Bow of Zynx. It will never miss anything anything as long as you keep it with you.
“Thanks.”
“David, the Boots of Theredus. They were made by gold but light and soft as animal’s skin, you can run with wind speed by these.
He took them and gave Lodin a smile.
“And finally, Jay, I’ll give you the Sword and Shield of Hephaiston. The sword can cut through anything and the shield can protect you from the fire of the dragon. And now, please all go, your destiny is near from you. I’ll see you soon.”
Destiny
“Grawhhhhh,” roared the dragon.
“Run, run David. Use your boots to distract the dragon.” shouted Jay.
Elana was standing in a corner and shooting at the dragon.
“Aim into its eyes Elana,” said Jay.
“Grawhhhhh.” One of Elana’s arrows was right in the eye of the dragon when it was chasing after David. It made a sound that caused the whole ground of the city to shake. The fire in its mouth was starting to get hotter and hotter. Even though it had lost one eye but now the dragon had turned to Jay, breathing the heat at him.
“Don’t worry, you guys go first, I can finish the dragon.”
“Are you sure Jay?” David said.
“I’m positive.”
Elana ran at him and gave him a kiss on the cheek and then followed David to a hide. Jay was blushing but still slowly moving to the dragon. Then he jumped on him and gave him a cut right at the back. The dragon made a loud noise and then swung itself, Jay fell on the ground. It flapped its swings and hit Jay with its tail. Jay was hit to the rocks. He hid himself down there, the dragon couldn’t see him then. It moved toward him and soon the dragon was right on top Jay without realizing. Then Jay raised his swored and pierced right through the dragon’s stomach. Its blood pured down onto his head and now he was covered with the dragon’s blood.
Finally, the dragon was now dead. The peasants who were watching now cheered for Jay and picked the three kids up and had a big festival.
PART 3
Returning
Reality??
The next day, they visited Lodin and informed him of the dragon.
“Of course I’ve heard of it, congratulations my dear. What’s wrong?” Lodin asked.
“We…..we miss our home, our school and our friends. Can we go home now?” They spoke at the same time with the same byte.
“Yes of course my dear, forgive me for forgetting.”
Then he opened one of his jars. It contained a purple stuff then he sprayed It on the floor and mixed it with ashes then he read a spell.
It was something like this, “Kapapuchi Balukapuno Oh eh Oh, Bum la Bum.”
The black hole suddenly appeared, it was just like last time. It sucked all three of them in except Lodin.
“Goodbye my children take care of yourself.”
“Ahhhhhhhh…..” all three screamed.
The next morning, they met at school.
“Yesterday I had a very strange dream where I was in another century and-….” David was speaking
“And then we met an old guy named Lodin and he gave us gifts to fight the-…..” Elana was speaking.
“Dragon and then we defeated it and came back here,” Jay finished the sentence.
“Is this reality?” Jay whispered to himself.

Tet
Tet is a very special and important celebration of Vietnam that we do every year. In prepare for Tet, we usually cook special food like: "banh chung, banh giay", and the people usually return to their home and families to have Tet together. The kids usually got a special money that their parents will give them during Tet, and we call that the "Lucky money", some even got new clothes and presents. In "Giao Thua", the families will watch the fireworks together at midnight, they will gather at certain places and there will be people who light the fireworks up, they will beautifully shine up all the sky and then the actual Tet will begin. Vietnamese people like to decorate their houses with lots of flowers, and the most special of them is called "hoa mai". It has yellow flowers and only grows in Tet, that's the special trait about it and makes it unique just for Tet, and we will put the "Lucky money" and presents on the branches of the plant and each member of the family or relatives will pick their gifts randomly. People usually come to each other house and we will wish good things for each other, the kids will say "Chuc mung nam moi" or "Song lau tram tuoi" to the old people. The thing that i like the most about Tet is at the begining or middle of Tet, all the families and relatives will gather at one house, depends on the people and we will play cards together until midnight. Tet is the best Vietnamese celebration and everyone will celebrate and be together in Tet, it brings the spirit and the people together again, reminds us that the old year has gone and everything will have a new start, goods will come and bas will live, people will be joyful and there will be no sorrow. Tet is a start of something new.

R0M4

A clear day sky is a very good time to visit Roma. The city where everything can happen. Here is just a picture of a place in Rome called the Colosseum. Roma is the place I always wanted to be. I love everything there. From their cappuccino to one of the most beautiful building in the world: Pisa. I just can’t describe it; words will never tell it all about Rome. You have to be there to see it by yourself. The city of miracles.
ReD Se4

Here is the Red Sea in China. Isn’t it beautiful? This is taken in front of the Red Sea when it’s sunset. The color of this picture is why I like it. There is something very special about it, maybe because this is the time that’s the sea is the most beautiful, when the sun came down. The sea is red mixed with pink of the skies, and far away is a black mountain. When I first saw this picture, I felt like I can touch and feel the sea there. I feel like I’m up in the sky and can watch all the view of the Red Sea.
Mt. Fuji

In front of you is Mount Fuji in Japan. As you can see the mountain is very high and it’s surrounded by cloud. Most of its body is covered with snow. It’s not so colorful; the picture is mostly blue of the mountain and white of the clouds. The picture reminds me of something, like I’m actually there right now. The feeling is indescribable. That’s why I like it.
